Re Windows update.

I cannot access my windows update. I cannot get into my firewall settings.
Any thiing I install regardless of what it is has an error message of "has
not passed windows logo testing". Etc.
Network Adapters [00000008] VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter has a
message that it has failed. Other than that my computer works well.

Im having the exact same problem, regardless of what i try to download.
Tried Downloading service pack 2, DirectX 9.0 same thing. Not passed logo
testing. Ive tried everything that I could think of.

I have a recovery cd which someone told me that it would cure the problem but
when I tried that it said the same things. Do you think a reformat would
help?
