Click Start, Run and type:

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

(Line may be wrapped)

-or-

Use this script and remove all the three resrictions (Task Manager, Registry Editor, and Command):

Line 275: Lift Restrictions - TM, Regedit and CMD

what can be wrong on my XP machinewhen i try to edit the registry? it says 'registry editor has been disabled by your administrator', even though i'm an adminisitrator. In order to fix this problem, i need to fix this one http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Taskmanager_error.htm can somebody please help

All right, well I had the same problem and tried the above, bu
something didn't work. Is there an error with the line that you told t
put in the "Run" box? The programs designed to get into the registry t
fix the problem won't run. I get the same dialog box saying "Registr
editing has been disabled by your administrator." So at this point, I'
not able to find solutions on the net. Help! Thanks

There is no error in that line, except that it's wrapped.
