Re-ordering drive letter assignments?

How can I re-order the drive letter assignments. I have Win XP w/sp2 and
2HDs and 2CDs and a floppy. When reintalling XP, the drives got re-lettered
so the 2nd HD is after the 1st CD letter. I would like it to be:

C: HD1
D. HD2
E. CD1
F. CD2

How can I do that?

Use Administrative Tools \ Computer Management \ Disk Management. You can
change the letters there.

But whilst you're at it, why not make your CD Reader the R: and your Writer
the W:?

drive/volume letter!
While completing the task of changing my CD Reader to letter R
a warning pop out::
**Changing the drive letter of a volume might cause programs to no longer
run. Are you sure you want to change this drive letter?**
What should i do Mart?

A good tip to do whenever reinstalling or installing on 2
hard drives is disconnect the second hard drive from your
computer this way the c drive wouldn't apply onto your
second hard drive , Afterward once you have reinstall the
operating system just plug back the second hard drive up
again

I like the idea of changing the names too.......but I did not see any way to

Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk
Management and look lower right for the graphic of the drive. R-click
in any partition (except C: where windows is) or on a CD drive's icon
and Change Drive letter
