Re-Learning Access

Tom Hall

My recent return to Access has underscored one glaring fact: I've forgotten
almost everything I learned about the program in the two one-day courses I
took back in '97 or '98.

In 2001 I was tested on Access by an employment agency and given an
intermediate rating in my knowledge of the software.

Now I'm scratching my head over what SHOULD be simple, basic Access tasks
-- such as "cloning" a database and basic report design.

This leads me to ask here: can anyone recommend a good learning resource -
either printed or online - that is reasonably priced and which provides a
graduated series of learning tools designed for a single person to work
through by himself?

I can't afford to re-take the courses I took before, so some kind of
self-study guide would be ideal.

TIA,

Tom

Tom:

Take a look at 'Microsoft Office Access 2003 Step by Step' published by
Microsoft Press. Amazon currently list it at 16.49 USD. It covers the
basics in an easily digestible sequence of steps, and will provide a good
foundation to proceed to more advanced stuff.

Microsoft's Office Online, on its home page has a link to "Training."
Follow it, and you'll find some pretty good online training on basic
features and functions of Access. These courses did not, last time I looked,
go as far as any VBA programming topics, but should give you a good review.

Thanks for the tip! I've ordered the book.
