I am having a problem due to trying to use Roxio Easy CD
Creator on my computer. I have tried every suggestion from
Roxio to get it to work, and now I can't even get my
original CD/DVD player to work, it somehow screwed that
up. Can I re-install Windows XP Home edition? Will I lose
anything and will it fix my old CD/DVD player?

Hello, I am having this EXACT same problem, only I have WIN XP Pro. I cannot use my CD-Rom drive for anything. I tried the suggestions from Roxio also, etc but nothing works so far. Please let me know if you found a way to fix this problem. Thank you in advance, Cheryl

Uninstalling Roxio software leaves loose ends hanging around the
registry. Before doing anything more drastic, get a registry patch
file, cdgone.reg, from www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it,
r-click on it and merge it into the registry

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you *do* use.
