Re-Installing XP HE

Need to reformat my hard drive. Have Windows XP HE oem.
Is it just a simple reinstall? What key codes will I need
to have on hand? Will I need a new activation code?
Where will I find them?

When viewing this site and clicking on links inside this
site the computer freezes.
Loading status fills with green and cursor sticks.
The music plays nice but when i use alt-ctl-del the
taskmanager indicates it is "not responding".
What is happening here? I have new winXP SP1 with all
updates and 512 ram. Connection is 10/100mbs J45 cable
into wall outlet. Turning off firewall and norton anti-
virus does not make any difference.

Mike as you are using XP HE "oem" do you have a XP cd, cos normally oem
comes installed on a computer from new in which case you don't usually get a
systems disc just a repair disc

and yes a reformat is gonna clear your disc of everything

and yes you will have to re-activate
the key will be in the box/envelope that the XP disc came in

basically If you don't have the disc don't format, unless you have the disc
unless you are prepared to go out and buy a retail version of XP, or smoe
other OS

Maybe their server is slow. Lagging streaming video can cause a not
responding message. Instead of clicking the .wmv link, RIGHT click it, then
LEFT click Save Target As, and save the .wmv file to your drive. Then
double click the saved file, and if it plays OK, your system is OK, and it's
their slow server that's causing the problem.

You just need the product key. Since HE machines are only factory made
OEMs, the product key will be on the COA label somewhere on your PC.

Who says he doesn't have the OS disc? He could have purchased an XP Home
OEM disc from an online retailer, or he could have a Dell or a Gateway that
still comes with a full OEM Windows disc.

Could be all I'm trying to do is advise him of the possible pitfalls

I don't and don't need to know who he is or his level of expertise I'm just
trying to help the guy

He cannot for HE edition, that can oly be sold with a complete PC
meeting certian hardware requrements for HE.
