I would like to format my had drive and re-install Windows
XP home edition. What information do I need to keep track
off to set up after the reinstall. Like making a
connection to the internet.

Thank you.

With a clean install, everything on your hard drive will be erased.

You will need to make written notes of your ISP connection data, e-mail POP3
etc data, and you might want to drag and drop any important e-mails into a
folder you can copy to a backup disc.

You will want to save to CD all other data - folders, any downloaded
programmes (those with no CD) and any downloaded XP compatible drivers.

Anything else you think you may need after the reinstall.

Good luck

I don't really understand Bee's response to you, but basically you need
to know the name of your ISP, the pop and smtp settings for your email,
your username, and your password. You'll want to find out how to save
your addressbook, and how to do this depends on what email client
you're using. If it's Outlook Express, go here:
www.insideoe.tomsterdam.com for information on backing up your
addressbook, etc.

You'll also want to save your Favorites ("bookmarks" in Netscape and
Mozilla). You can either just copy them or export them to a file from
within Internet Explorer. You'll want to have any necessary product
keys or passwords for software you've installed. This answer is pretty
general because without actually looking at your computer, I can't say
more definitely. You'll want to back up all your data, and only you
know what programs you use and if those programs need special data
backup treatment, like QuickBooks/Quicken for instance.

Post back if you need more help.
