re installing the operating system and reformatting hard drive

I got the W32Swen.A virus which has messed up the entire
computer.
Can't apply thye virus removal because it is so
complicated.

1/ How do you get to dos on windows XP

2/How do you reformat the entire hard drive and install
the OS again. I put in my OS disc and the install link
is highlighted, but when I click on it (all possible
ways) nothing happens.

Disable system restore, start->control panel->'system'->'system
restore'->disable...then download the program below and run it.

Nancy, do you have a WinXP Cd? If so you have to go into the Bios and set
the Cdrom as first boot device.
Once you boot you can format and reinstall the OS from the CD. Look in you
computer manual for instructions.
