Help! Considering unkillfiling measekite to endure some more pain and
suffering. It seems that some people actually thrive upon his incessant pot
shotting. I'm almost feeling guilty for suggesting to Frank a week ago to
clobber his messages to allow for a taste of sanity.
I didn't see anything from the guy for a week or so (maybe he was on
vacation or something) and I actually missed him! It's so hard to find
the sort of belly laugh his posts always provide anywhere else, and I
need a good laugh from time to time.

Why would I care about this? Maybe you missed the part where I said
i've been refilling for about 10 years to great satisfaction. Should I
abandon refilling because "someone" reported a problem? Pick any
newsgroup, "someone" is going to have a problem. Even if this was an OEM
ink newsgroup, "someone" will have a problem. Let's not forget that the
cleaning cycles in printers were put in specifically for OEM inks
BECAUSE they found they they will clog.

You've hit on the fundamental problem of the world: stupid people are
too dumb to realize they are stupid. That explains politics, war,
religion, & business. There are those who are so stupid they don't
realize they have a problem, and those who think it's somebody else's
fault. Stupid people have a lot of self confidence due to this stupidity
and therefore tend to get elected president, ayatollah etc.

The pain, the shame, the ignominy and the disgrace that he has made me suffer.
Woe is me, for my sins have been discovered and I will spend the rest of
eternity repenting my refilling ways.
Time for another whisky, thank goodness no-one knows about that secret sin.

Well, at least you didn't wind up in the hospital like someone I know...

i avoid the entire problem by using the ink the printer mfg recommends.
i avoid clogging, fading, and poor results.

<sarcasm>
After refilling with stinky ole 3rd party ink, I rinse my syringes with
OEM ink for that fresh-as-a-daisy feeling.

I wouldn't want my refilling syringe to get a clog.

Thanks for the "thanks", Al, but I have to say that I picked up the info on
that product here on this very NG from someone else several months ago and
am just passing it on.

What do you use to clean your syringes when you refill cartridges?
I've been using surgical spirit for a couple of years, on the grounds
that it is much cheaper that the cleaning fluid sold by the ink
retailers - and it works fine. But now I'm wondering if distilled
water would work just as well. Or even tap water...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I always use my genuine Canon "Professional Syringe Cleaning Kit." It's
expensive, but you don't need the whole kit every time; you can save
money by buying "Professional Syringe Cleaning Refill Solution." It's
only $79.95 per ounce, but you can sometimes find it sold at a discount.

I have been pleased with this product. I only use genuine OEM-brand
supplies. I insist that you do the same!

Unless you have very poorly filtered tap water, or some very severe
mineralization, regular tap water is all that is required for most inks.

If the ink tends to stick to the sides of the syringe, consider a bit of
isopropyl alcohol or even a bit of diluted ammoniated window cleaner (to
avoid damaging the rubber syringe plunger.
