It is possible to disable the shift key and that is what this guy has
done.
First thing I would try is to import modules ,macros, forms. If you
can do that look at any code. Look for the Command function.
That may show you what he expects to see to allow the db to open
normally.
If you can't get that stuff let me know and I'll think about it some
more.

Perhaps a silly question, but have you tried hitting the 'F11' key after the
database is open to access the database window?
