It depends on what you want to accomplish. If you are trying to format and
reinstall XP, the XP retail installation disk is bootable and you can format
and partition the drive during the installation.
If your system came with XP preinstalled, you likely have a system recovery
disk and reinstalling from this disk will also format the drive. Read the
documentation if this is the case.
