re-format

Click on start, all programs, accessories, command
prompt. When in the command promt type this in after the
When this shows up c:\>
type format c: Example: c:\>format c:
then just follow the prompts
 
That advice is rediculous.

To wipe your hard drive clean and start over, boot your computer from the XP
CD and follow the prompts to partition and format your hard disk and
reinstall Windows. You must understand that you will permanently lose
everything on your hard disk, and have to reinstall, update and configure
all your software and hardware.
