RE Display Setting Problems

I wondered if anyone could help me as my daughter has used the computer and
now each window is oversized. When any dialogue box is open it is extremely
disffcilt to get to the standard buttons (OK & Cancel).

I have been to the display settings and tried to set as my laptop i.e.
800x600 but it is no better.
