re boot qestion

I was having a problem with my speakers not working with
windows xp so i used the restore windows xp disc that was
with my computer. This worked fine but all the files
(pics ,music files and lots of them) have all gone. :( is
there any way of retrieving them or are they gone for
good?????

Probably, but it won't come easy or cheap. Plus you should stop using the
hard drive immediately, as further use will limit the amount of data that
will be retrievable.
