Re 5731

I have tried Pluns suggestion of copying and pasteing the
new MSAS definitions from 5729 to 5731, but it's just not
working. I copy ok, but when I try to paste them, I get a
box appear saying they already exist, do I want to
replace existing one's. Have tried both ways, by clicking
no and then trying yes, but either way, my definitions
still keep updateing from 5729 to 5731. I did shut down
MSAS before hand, but still it doesn't seem to work. Any
ideas please.

You would have to agree to replace the existing ones, otherwise there is no
point in what you are doing.

Did you remember to empty your Temporary Internet Files before trying the
downloads of the definitions files?

Does your ISP operate a Transparent Web Proxy Cache service? If so, it
might be serving stale copies of these files.

Also, Microsoft appear to have changed the address of the server which
serves these updates, somewhere into the Akamai system. I do not know to
what extent this might impact on these manual update procedures.

Trish:

To verify that you have downloaded the correct files:
Go into Microsoft AntiSpyware > Tools > Advanced Tools >
Advanced File Analyzer > Click Browse > Navigate to the
files (one at a time) > Open.

Compare your results with the following (note the date
stamps may not agree but the size and the MD5 hash values
should):

Thanks a lot for all that info. I have now managed to
download the new definitions and have checked the results
with your list and all is well. Thanks to you, I have
also learn a bit more about MSAS and how it works. Thanks
again, much appreciated.

I have the same problem first was from 5729 to 5731, but
now from 5727 to 5731 (?). I think that it is a bug.
