RDWC - Unable to sign in (page not found)

Jake

I would like to setup Remote Desktop Web Connection to remote control my
desktop over the internet. I have followed the directions in the
wonderful article at :
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/northrup_
03may16.mspx

However,

I am unable to get this to work, even on my local lan. I can connect to
the RDWC signon page (where it asks for server, screen size, user ID, etc)
but when I try to signon it gives me a page not found in my browser. This
happens via the local lan or trying to connect from outside through my
cable/dsl router.

I am reaching the TSWEB site on the local box but I am unable to sign on
and see the desktop.. "The page cannot be found".

Any ideas ? I've checked everything I can think of

I have a small local lan with 3-4 machines on it behind a router/firewall -
Linksys BEFSX41. I've designated a port (not 80) for use and forwarded
that port to this box. I am specifying that port in my URL -
http://x.x.x.x:port/tsweb/

As I said, I can reach the signon page but it goes no further.

It could be the firewall issue. To test it, telnet port 80 and 3389.

I've got the firewall turned off and I get the same results on my local
lan..

Is there somewhere I can read about "the firewall issue" ?

The machine is listening on both the port I selected and the 3389 port..
I can get the "connect to" page from tsweb but clicking connect button
results in "The page cannot be found" ..

This is not helping me ..

I don't know that "The firewall issue" .. and I am not familiar with
telnet or why that would even be relevant when I've got the Windows
firewall turned OFF..
