RDP VPN W2K vs XP issue

Paul

OK - we have hired an external developer to work on a PC dedicated for him
at our office. He can create a VPN connection and connect to our network
from both his Win2K machine and his WinXP machine. The problem is when he
tries to RDP onto the PC in the office it only works from his XP machine at
home. The Win2K machine errors and cannot find the PC in our office. He
tried it by IP , FQDN , still nothing. What could the difference be between
the win2K box the winxp box - they are both behind his Linksys firewall and
have no software firewall installed. What are we missing ?
Both RDP clients are the same version downloaded from MS yesterday.

Thanks
Paul

Try having them rebooting the Linksys router at his home by unplugging and
waiting a could of minutes. After the router resets and before doing
anything on the XP machine, see if he can connect from the Windows 2000
machine. I still have problems with Linksys routers that seem to let one
computer use a certain port, but then no other computer can do it until the
router is reset.

Also, have you tried to see if the W2K computer can RDP anywhere else
without a problem like from that computer to his XP computer?
