RC2 & MSN Premium

Why are we at RC2 and still MSN Premium is not compatible!? This is a
Microsoft product, one that I would think is pretty important in that it
works with Vista, and I still cannot fully use Vista because we use MSN
Premium for the Parental Controls it offers. I have looked at the Parental
Controls built into Vista which do look promising, but one key feature is not
there that is in MSN Premium, and that is the ability to limit my 9 year old
daughters e-mail box from getting mail from those who are not in her contact
list. This is a must for me, because I do not want my daughter opening up
all the porn spam that always tends to find a way to our boxes.

Is this feature going to be available in Vista?

I know there is a Live Parental Controls that is in Beta and they have said
this is something coming, but that has been the story for months now.

use Windows Live OneCare Family Safety beta, buddy.

As for the porn spam... i've never gotten one in my 10 years of using a
computer and hotmail... so i dont see how porn spam could magically get into
your box. unless your daughter visits porn sites and registers to receive
their newsletter... which i dont think is probable. either way, try family
safety, it should help you out.

You are very lucky then. We've been getting porn for years in every mailbox
that we use whether pop or webmail and so have many of our friends.
Mailwasher(the old free version) worked wonders though for getting rid of
most of the pop email spam. I still don't know how you can get so much junk
in your e-mail account. One of these days I'll look into it but I have
better things to do now.

well i think i kno why u get porn... i may not be right, but as far as spam
goes (including porn) this is why you get it most of the time. in any site
that you register... like news, your favorite forums, etc, they may give out
your email. AND just plainly by having your email address on your profile on
any site, special programs that search the web for email addresses can get ur
email address. that's why a lot of people put yourname[at]hotmail[dot]com
instead of (e-mail address removed).

just a thought, and also try UNSUBSCRIBING from all ur jumk mail using the
link that it has at the bottom, do that with each one you get. and also set
it as spam. that's what i did, and i havent gotten any spam since like 2
years ago

lemme kno how it goes.

I just want to second what Mike wrote here. MSN Premium's contact management
features are really important to our family. I would love to upgrade to Vista
once its out, but I'm not sure we will for that reason.

However, once the contact management features are integrated into OneCare, I
suppose that might be an option for us...
