RC2 has broken Daemon Tools

Tim

I had installed Daemon Tools under RC1 and it worked fine. After doing an
upgrade to RC2, it won't run. I get an error saying "Initialization error
0. This program requires at least Windows 2000 with SPTD 1.28 or higher.
Kernel debugger must be activated." Also, I can't uninstall it because it's
now missing from the installed programs list. And I can't reinstall it - it
starts to install, but then does nothing. Others are also having this
problem: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/showthread.php?t=14145.

Anyone having similar problems?

I found a solution somewhere in a forum. Start regedit.exe, delete the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\sptd . You might have
to right-click and set Permissions first. I also deleted sptd.sys in
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\. Then reboot, and restart the installation.

Thanks. That worked.

Hi,

Believe they came out with 4.06 version a short while ago, apparently it is
vista compatible again.. (Dont know about the x64 version though..).

I think the latest version came out when RC1 was out, and fixed some
problems people were having then. My problem is different, and apparently
only arises if you do an upgrade install of RC2 after having installed
Daemon Tools under RC1. Reportedly, DT knows about the problem and are
trying to fix it.
