RC1 is Release Candidate 1. According to MS, RC1 will be the next major
pre-release version of Vista (e.g., no beta 3.) Release Candidate software
is, as the name would imply, very near release quality software, as opposed
to the current beta state of vista.
I know that - just try explaining that to "Download Help"... s

RC1 = Release Candidate 1, which is currently due out in August 2006,
hopefully on or before 08/15/2006, which will be my 29th Birthday, just FYI.
