In your Vista Team Blog (
http://blogs.technet.com/windowsvista/default.aspx) its written in topic (BE

..microsoft will be unable 2 send us RC1. i have activated 1 vista beta 2
product key which i downloaded not ordered .the 2 dvd kits which i've ordered
are packed. SO WILL I GET RC1 . bcz i havent activated product key in beta 2

According to your link it says this:
"As a recourse, we're encouraging those of you who can wait to instead order
the DVD. In addition, ordering the DVD will also guarantee access to the
RC1 (Release Candidate) upgrade, provided you activate your version of
Windows Vista Beta2."

As I read it, you will not automatically receive RC1 DVD unless you
activated it so if you *also* downloaded it and activated the download but
not the DVD, then you will *NOT* receive the RC1 DVD and have to download
it. Is everyone else reading it that way as well? If so, this is contrary
to what has been posted in the past that as long as you ordered the DVD kit
and regardless if you activated it or not, you would automatically receive
RC1.

Well I guess "Better Safe than Sorry" applies here.
Since I ordered the DVD kit but only installed and activated the download
version, I'm going to format and install the DVD version in order to make
sure I receive the DVD RC1 kit. I don't know if I want to go through that
whole download struggle again.

I get the same message from reading it. I actually installed and activated
the key with my DVDs just to make sure I get RC1. I've been testing Beta 2
for a month otherwise and I think I'm done with it, waiting for RC1.

You can also open the system properties dialog and change the product
key there instead of reinstalling.

How exactly does that work Tinkerer?
If I just change the product key, how does MS become aware that I am using
it under that new key?
Does it ask me to activate again?

Never mind.
I guess it pays to look first before asking. :)
That worked and sure saved some time.
thanks Tinkerer.

I downloaded it, to save a lil money on the shipping fee lol , in case it
didnt work like. However, the download wasnt too bad tbh, about 4 hours all
in all, and wack it on to DVD and bobs your uncle lol!

So.... Will i just get an e-mail when RC1 is here? or will i get the option
to downoad or get the DVD pack?

Applied the rule of 'Better Safe Than Sorry'

installed windows Vista and activated 1 product key is there any way to
activate another product key than reinstalling again and den putting another
key

Click on Start, then right-click on Computer and then choose Properties from
the context menu. This should bring up a general information window. Very
near the bottom will be a hyperlink that says "Change product key." You can
take it from there.
