RawWrite is a freeware utility for creating boot and root disks for
installing Linux. This program runs on Windows NT, 2K, XP, 95, 98 and
ME. You can download this program from
http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/rawwrite.htm .

This program is only important if you need to create boot disks or root
discs for Linux. If you don't use Linux, then you can skip this
program.

RawWrite is for linux, but you have Rawrite for windows in sereval
flavours, and a btw, RawWrite also run on windows with the
appropriate dll.

All these programs run better in plain Dos than under Windows.

^^^^^Silly thing to say. On Linux you would use /dd/.
For that matter, under just about any *NIX variant you would use dd for
raw reading or writing of a device.

RawWrite became known because of Linux (the need to write the boot and
root images on floppies), but that's not the same as saying it's *for*
Linux. Sort of. :)
