RAW HD

I installed an older 20gb HD in my system. When I try to scandisk with PQ7
or Windows it reports it as a HD with RAW format and will not complete the
scandisk for errors. When I try to convert to NTFS it will not complete the
conversion. What is the RAW format? Any way to convert it without a
complete format of the drive? Will that even work?

Thanx for you help,
Kelly

RAW means that there is no partition found on the drive. You can't format
what isn't there. Nor can you check it for consistency!

First off, do you know who made the hard drive? Check the bottom of the drive to see if there's a label that says the manufacturer's name and the model number. Then, go to the website and download utilities/programs that will format your hard drive. You can get Windows to format your drive with the installation CD, but sometimes it's better to use the manufacturer's programs to format it. If you need anymore help, post back.
