RAW hard drive

Recently bought a PC with Vista Home Premium. Have a lot of little
questions I may post here if I can't find the answers online. But for
now, my most significant problem.
I have a USB HD that worked flawlessly under XP. But when I plugged it
in to the4 new (Vista) PC it does not appear in Explorer and Disk
Management shows it as 'RAW.' How do I get Vista to detect/read it?

I'm not saying you should do this, but if it were my drive. I would
transfer the data using the XP machine and then format the drive and
return the data. If you want to just plug and play to different
machines, format the drive as FAT32 (default) . Format it as NTFS if
you want an added layer of authentication and password security.
