RAS Server 2000 and AD 2003

We have been running NT4 domain with a Windows 2000 RAS server and it's been
working fine. We recently migrated from NT4 to 2003 and since then users
can no longer dial into the RAS server. They receive the following error:
"Error 930: The authentication server did not respond to authentication
requests in a timely fashion." I have added the RAS server to the RAS and
IAS Servers group, but that doesn't help. I have verified that the users do
have dial-in permissions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AD doesn't work the same way as NT. You will now be authenticating
against the AD database. So you need to use AD credentials. The RRAS server
should be able to authenticate against AD if it is a member of the RAS and
IAS server group.

Also check the remote access policy and its settings. I have found it
better to use conditions in remote access policy rather than dialup
permissions to grant remote access using AD.
