RAS Dial-in Doesn't work

I have problems with accepting a incoming call via modem on a Windows XP
Embedded machine.
A host (Windows 2003) should communicate with an application on the XP
machine via RAS. Outgoing calls to the host are working fine!

When making a call from the host to the XP machine the only thing I can
register on the XP machine is "Recieve: <cr><lf>RING<cr><lf>" in
"ModemLog_LASAT WebSetGo ISDN.txt". There are no activity to see on the modem.

Here is the RASTAPI.log file:

There has also been logged information to the following files: router.log,
tapi32.log and tapisrv.log. Other log-files are empty.

I think I have installed all the necesarry components

WMI Win32 Provider
RAS Async adapter
WAN Miniport
Network Routing

and all the basic components like TCP/IP Networking etc.

Can anyone show me the necessary components for RAS Dial-in,
so I can then compare it with the components I have installed?

Please what am I missing?

Or what should happen after "Recieve: <cr><lf>RING<cr><lf>" in
"ModemLog_LASAT WebSetGo ISDN.txt"?

Elund,

Take a look at this thread it may help. There are quite a few components
listed that he tried.

Hi brad!

Thank you very much for your link. I have not seen this topic before.

But... I don't have all the components he is listing.

I miss â€Primitive: Rasmanâ€, â€Internet Protocol Network Address Translationâ€,
â€Routing Table Library†og â€Primitive: Mprâ€.

Is there a difference betwwen the evaluation verison and the real version of
Target Designer? Or where do I find the missing components?

Best regards,
Elund

Elund,

Try lowering your visibility in Target Desginer. You'll find it under Tools
Options > Advanced.

Set it to 100 and search for the components again.

Happy New Year :)

I have added all the components that I missed listed in the thread below.
I also updated to Service Pack 2.

But it did not help at all :-(

After updating I have been able to make a dial-in once. Just after this
succes i tried to make a new dial-in without changing anything. It failed.
Since that I have not been able to make a dial-in. This also happened for me
two times before updating.

If I have been able to make a dial-in once, shouldn't all the necessary
component then be available?

If that's correct, where should I then start looking for the error?

Or should I try to make a complete XP embedded image with all components
installed?

Best regards, Elund

Elund,

I remember there were issues early on in XPe with dial up connections and
mobsync.dll or specifically "Internet Explorer Offline Browsing". The
connections would not disconnect properly after the first connection without
a reboot. Is this possibly what you are seeing? Can you confirm that
"Internet Explorer Offline Browsing" is included in your image?

Brad

Brad,

Thanks for your help :)

I went back to an XP Professional platform and tried to test with the old
Lasat modems again. I couldn't get RAS Dial-in to work any more :-(
So I bought 2 new Zyxel modems and now it's working on both platforms :)

It's now up to the customer if they want to buy new modems or if I should
use more time on finding the right initialization strings to the old Lasat
modems.
