Rapid Notepad replacement

Hi, I often should make small notes on short time, I did create
shortcut to notepad in Quick Launch and run it each time when I need
to put notes, but it very long for my computer. Can you recommended
me small and rapid notepad replacement ? If it can minimize to tray
it instead of closing, it will be fine.
