Does anyone know why Windows XP will occasionally randomly deleting files on
its own? I have a remote user who has Windows XP Home edition. He told me
occasionally, the Deleting File... window will pop up and start removing
files.

These are things I asked him to check for:

- In IE, make sure the uncheck "Remove temporary files when closing IE"
- Uncheck Cleanup Wizard from Display
- Remove any schedule task using cleanup.exe in the command line

I could not think of anything else, and I looked in MS KB and found nothing
about this issue. If anyone have any insight on this issue, please do share
you knowledge.

Thanks.

XP shouldn't be randomly deleting files. Sounds more like some malware
infestation..
Scan with up to date antivirus and spyware/adware removall tools.
