Files not deleted in Temporary Internet Files

Files are no longer being automatically deleted in the Temporary Internet
Files folder when shutting down IE.
I've tried unchecking/checking the option in Internet Options, but no
change.
Clicking on 'Delete Files' on the General tab of Internet Options does
delete any files in the folder [except, of course, cookies].

This function was working until today.

I've run an anti virus scan and a Sunbelt spyware scan. Nothing was
identified. Also, ran sfc /scannow.

Tried moving the location of the Temporary Internet Files folder, but no
change.

Win XP SP2 with all the latest patches as of second Tuesday in October using
Windows Update.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Are you removing Temporary Internet Files from each User profile?

How many drives / partitions do you have?

Hope this helps.

I have learned -- probably from a post in this very forum -- that
Outlook Express also writes files in the Temporary Internet Files
folder. They will get removed only if you run and close IE (or remove
them manually) *after closing OE*.

They will be deleted by using IE's Tools | Internet Options | Delete files
and checking the box to delete offline files. If OE is open the temp file
for the currently open message will not be deleted.

Don't forget the OE Tool does the job as well.

The only users are Adminstrator [renamed for my use], All Users and Default
User.
I can say that using 'Delete Files' in Internet Options does delete all the
files. The problem is the files should be automatically deleted after
shutting down IE.
How many drives / partitions do you have?
2 drives and three partitions. How would this affect this issue?

Thanks

I was thinking of Disk Cleanup when I asked about Partitions. Reading
your original post again I now appreciate you are saying that the option
in Tools, Imternet Options, Advanced, Empty Temporary Files folder when
browser is closed is not working.

Here is a detailed report on why this happens:

The option "Empty Temporary Internet Files folders when browser is closed"
does not work ?:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/deltifonexit.htm

Delete the History folder and index.dat:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Thanks! In this case, I was able to get files in TIF to delete
automatically at IE shutdown by moving TIF folder to another location,
creating a new TIF folder in the default location, then moving TIF folder
back to the default location.

In the future, I'll try the above.
