Random shutdowns

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could help me out. My computer randomly shuts down
in the middle of operation. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. No
particular program, or anything like that. The computer just turns off.
There are no error messages.

I have run my virus scanner a thousand times, and it's not showing anything.

Help!!

This is usually caused by a hardware problem, with overheating being at the top of the suspect list. With the power disconnected, open the computer and visually inspect for dust accumulation, paying particular attention to the CPU heat sink, intake and outlet vents, and the power supply fans. Carefully blow out the accumulation with compressed air if that is the case. Now reconnect the power and start the computer with the cover still off and visually verify that all fans are running. If you are not sure of your skills for doing this, any reputable computer repair shop can do it for a minimal charge if you take the computer to them.

This is most likely to be hardware trouble. Either overheating (open up
and make sure the fan on the CPU is running enthusiastically and is not
blocked with fluff), or dicey RAM modules
