random restarting

My computer randomly restarts it self almost every day.
The online support says it is caused by a device driver.
What does this mean, and what should I do?

Hi Daniel,

By default when WinXP encounters a system failure, it reboots without
warning. The setting that controls this can be changed:

Control Panel/System/Advanced/Settings (Startup & Recovery)/System
Failure/Uncheck-Automatically Restart.

You can use Event Viewer to view and manage the event logs, gather
information about hardware and software problems, and monitor Windows
security events.

To view the event log: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or
Start/Run/eventvwr.

To review Shutdown Event Tracker data, Open Event Viewer. Click System Log,
scroll to the Event column, and find entries with the number 1075.

Go to Start/Run/Msinfo32/Hardware Resources, Components/Problem Devices and

nono of the enteries in the sys log had 1075 with them,
the closest i could fing was 1073.
I changed the settings so that it wouldnt restart
automatically, and when the error message came up, the
screen said "Bad_POOL_CALLER"

Hi Daniel,

BAD_POOL_CALLER means a driver problem. You may need to update one, or
possibly rollback a newly installed one to a prior version. You can try
debugging it if you like, the steps here were written for Win2K, but still

But, no matter which way you look at it, you have some work ahead of you.
This may also help you isolate the culprit:

It may help to move cards around, particularly if a PCI card is installed in
the slot next to an AGP (video) card slot.
