random reboots

Hello, I recently bought an ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128 MB. My system was fine
before I installed this card (I was running an old Radeon LE). Now when I am
playing modern games that put the system under load, my system will
occasionally reboot. However, it does not do this when the system is not
under load. What could be causing this? Power supply? Here are the specs on
my system:
Antec 300 watt power supply
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard
Athlon XP 2100 +
2 sticks of ram, 256 MB each
1 60GB IBM hard drive
1 30GB Wester Digital Hard drive
1 3.5" floppy drive
Lite On cd burner
Lite On DVD drive,
ATI Radeon 9600 XT
2 case fans.
Thanks,
Josh

Remove all ATI drivers in safe mode and reinstall, there could also be a
setting in your systems Bios that may have a conflict with the driver
settings, you might try checking the Bios to see if AGP fast write is
enabled or even supported.

If it is supported and/or enabled, you could try disabling it, or
vice-versa if already disabled.

While there also check your AGP bus settings and be sure they are set within
the cards parameters..i.e. 2x,4x,8x...

Also some Asus motherboards have had problems with developing swollen and
leaking capacitors , you may check to see that this is not occurring on your
system.

Any of these things can cause random reboots, but I'd look first to badly
installed or corrupted drivers

Had exactly the same problem as you. Replaced my 300w PSU with a 420w
model and I've been fine ever since.

I agree, power supplies can cause issues if they under-power your video
card.

Could also be a heat issue try running it with the case off. If it still
dose it I would suspect powersupply
