RAN "SFC /scannow" AND NOW SLOVAK LANGUAGE IN SYSTEM

G

Guest

I ran SFC /scannow after a suggestion to help with another problem and now in
many of my system headers and bodies i have SLOVAK or other eastern
European language. For example all of my wireless headers and text are in
this language and many more.

I have a legal English installation of XP home with all updates on a Dell
Inspiron 6000.

I have a clean machine no virus no mal ware etc.

I need help in the registry I think..

PLEASE I cannot read this language.

Go to: Start>Control Panel>Regional and Language>Regional Options>
to the left of the Custom button look for and select English (United States)
click Apply and OK out.

Exactly what do you mean by "system headers and bodies"?

i have SLOVAK or other eastern
European language.

Are you sure? How do you know what language it's in? Can you post an
example or two for us to look at?

For example all of my wireless headers and text are in
this language and many more.

Good questions.

System headers, For example When I open system properties from the control
panel. HARDWARE is now spelled... Hardvér and when opened all is in the
other language, I do not know if it is SLOVAK, just looks eastern european.
here is an example...

Under hardware in system properties the first box is now titled

Sprácvca zariandení

the second box is entitled

Ovládace

and the third

Hardvérové profily

It is just Hardware but in other control panel for example

auto updates, i think it is auto update because i recognize the icon is now

Centrum zabezpecenia

ODD ODD ODD

i would love to post a screen shot but alas i do not know how this is done.

i have run several Malware, antispyware etc as recommended by other user
groups all come back clean...

Wireless in network connections is all this language..

and again this all happened after running SFC /scannow

thanks
cisco

OK, it's clearly such a language, although I don't know for sure which
one either. Slovak is a good guess.

The reason I asked is to be sure you weren't talking about a seemingly
random combination of letters, and calling it "Slovak" humorously.

i would love to post a screen shot but alas i do not know how this is done.

It's neither necessary nor desirable. You've clarified what I asked.

Wireless in network connections is all this language..

Have you checked in Control Panel | Regional and Language Options, on
the Advanced tab, to make sure English is selected?

I have rerun SFC /scannow several times..... still this language that we can
call

Sorry, I don't have any other suggestions. I've never seen that
before, and have a hard time believing that SFC caused it.

Ken,

Couldn't he just carry out a restore? It wouldn't give the reason for
his problem but it would get him his English back.

SFC/scannow it happened...

Since I don't know what happened, I'm not sure that would fix it. But
it might, and your suggestion is a good one.

Oh, I believe you. I just have a hard time believing that that was the
cause, even though the two happened at the same time.

The file "xpsp2res.dll" may have been replaced with a Slovak version probably when running SFC (SFC uses the contents of the DllCache folder).

Check if you have a Slovak version of the file "xpsp2res.dll" in both these locations:

C:\Windows\System32
-and-
C:\Windows\System32\DllCache

If so, you'll have to get a fresh copy from the Windows XP CD-ROM.

Not a problem, and thanks for the message. I learned something from it
myself!
