I've just got some more Crucial 512 DDR400 ram (total
1024) but now the pc keeps having a serious error. Could
this be a dodgy stick of ram or just coinsidence. is there
a way to test if ram is good. It seems to works ok and
shows up that its there.

It is possible that it is a bad chip or incompatibility. Check with your
motherboard manufacturer for the latest BIOS. Also, try running the
utility found here:

http://www.memtest86.com

Check that the ram is oriented right and pushed in all the way.
