I have replaced all three memory slots with brand new
256mb ram sticks. I have run memory test using MS memory
diagnostic tool and Memtest-86-v3.o. All tests fail.I have
tested all three sticks one at a time in different slots.
Could I have a bad motherboard or could something else be
causing this? Thanks.

If all your new RAM fails while the original RAM tests OK, I'd suspect an
incompatibility between the new RAM and your motherboard. Check your mobo
manual carefully. Does it specify a certain speed? ECC? Non-ECC?
Buffered? Parity? Non-Parity? There are a number of possibilities.

Do the old ram processors work?and are the new ones
compatable with your mother board?

if the computer is not working with new memory and all
three slots test bad,a motherboard issue seems inevitably
the cause.

if the system works then you are simply kooky and should
get a life.
