RAM Upgrade?

Hi, I have a VGN FS675P/H laptop that came with DDR333 (PC2700) ram (none
onboard). However, I was wondering if I coud upgrade to PC3200 (DDR 400) or
maybe even DDR2 so that my computer speed would be improved. I know my FSB
is 533Mhz, way above the ram operation speed and my Intel chip support not
only DDR but also DDR2. If there are requirements for ram upgradation, what
are they? Also, it seems that my laptop supports only 1GB of ram max, why is
that? (Isn't 2^32 = 4294967296? (i.e. 4GB max?)) Thanks for the help.

The individual slots will only support up to 512 each so 1 GB is the Max. Use a site like
Crucial.com to see what is compatible for your machine.

If you have DDR now, DDR2 won't work because it won't fit the RAM slot. Not
physically possible.

You can plug in 400 speed RAM, but doesn't mean it will work at that speed.
May backpedal to a slower speed.

It is absolutely essential that any new RAM module(s) be fully
compatible with both the motherboard and/or any other RAM module(s)
already in the system. Additionally, there are sometimes jumper
switches on older motherboards that need to be reset for new RAM
configurations. Consult your motherboard's manual or the manufacturer's
web site for specific instructions and compatibility requirements.

If you cannot lay your hands upon the computer's manual and the
manufacturer doesn't provide a support web site, Crucial Memory's web
site (www.crucial.com) has a database to help to find the right RAM for
your specific make and model computer and/or motherboard.

Because that's the way the manufacturer designed it.
