RAM to feed modern CPUs

While back when P4s just came out arguments were made that P4s were
not worth the money over PIIIs unless u put Rambus RAM with it since
regular ram will not "feed" cpu fast enough. My question is about
modern CPUs and RAM. in particular Core2 Duo. I want to get e6420 and
OC it as much as i safely can. But what ram should i bundle it with?
Will 800MHz DDR2 be sufficient or do I need faster RAM?

Thanks

DDR2 PC2-8500 with 5-5-5-15 timings is one way. Another option would be to
relax timings and increase voltage and speed on PC2-6400.

I've got a couple of these
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21778&vpn=PDC22G6400LLK&manufacture=Patriot
in a Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4 with an E6420
This RAM runs at 2.00V and will reach 1000(5-5-5-15) at 2.4v or just plain
run at 800(4-4-4-12) on 1.85v...
Running the Ram in sync with the FSB i can reach a stable 450FSB.......900
RAM with the CPU voltage set to 1.50...multiplier at 8
But since I dont watercool I have reduced voltage to 1.35 at 400FSB with
the RAM at 800 ...4.4.4.12 timmings with the lower voltage.
This is the article that helped me decide
