Hi
Have been looking at my system config in relation to RAM
I am running 1250MB of RDRAM across the four slots.
In slots 1+2 i have 128MB modules and in 3+4 I have 512MB modules.

Is this OK or should the bigger ones be in Slots 1+2?

Thanks
Steve

as dell only builds pc's, the
manuafacturer of the motherboard
can be any number of makers.

So it is likley they included the manufacturers
manual to. Or check a pdf version
at Dell website. Or pop open the pc
and google the model number for your
mobo.

the manuafacturer of your motherboard
will give you the exact configuration(s)
for "maximum processing power"

I don't think it makes a difference. You should go to www.dell.com and
download the manual for your computer, it will tell you in there all
about how to insert RAM.

FWIW, my Dell has the four slots organized into two banks. Two slots
have black connectors, two have white connectors, matching color
connectors define a bank. The two slots in a bank have to have
matching RAM sticks.

It's fine the way it is.

Steve:
As Bob indicates, it makes no difference whether the 128 MB RAMBUS modules
are in slots ("banks") 1 & 2 or whether they're installed in slots 3 & 4.
What *is* crucial is that all four RAMBUS modules be of identical speed,
i.e., PC600, PC800, etc. I assume that since you've been running that RDRAM
for some time now (actually years, yes?) there's no problem here. Is there
any reason why you're now raising this question?

Not really
Have had the unit open trying to check the make of the mobo and noticed the
RAM, just thought the frirst 2 slots should have the largest modules in them
but if it doesn't matter then I will leave it.
Thanks
Steve

If you're not having any memory-related problems, then it's clearly OK.
