HP PC has 1 GB of RAM. 2 512MB modules. Motherboard has 4 memory slots.
Currently 1 and 3 have 1 ea 512 MB module. Can I add a 1 GB module and to
which slot do I have to put it in? Thanks, Steve T.

In some 4 slot systems, it is ok to use the 1gb module in bank 0, and then
use a matching pair in banks 2 and 3.. unfortunately, not all systems follow
that rule.. you should really visit the HP support website for this info..

Without having more details about your motherboard, we can only guess.

Most P4 motherboards are using DDR RAM. These come in several different
speed rating (266, 333, 400 etc.) However, this also means the the memory
should be "paired". You should see that the RAM slots have two different
colours and that the current 2 512MB modules occupy the "same" colour slots.
Therefore, it seems that you RAM is currently set up as "paired" memory and
your single 1GB module may not work. However, all is not lost! You may be
able to add 2 1 GB mudules to the two remain slots.
