RAM size

I notice some computers can take 4 GB RAM max but some only 2 GB. Can
someone explain what cause such boundary.

The design of, physical layout of, and the parts mounted on the Motherboard
may limit the maximum memory address that can be used to 2GB to save on
manufacturing cost.
