If you suspect you got a faulty ram stick and you take a good one out it
could make the problems worse becuase that faulty memory stick is being
accessed more then before when the address space was shared between more
sticks.
So if you suspect a faulty ram stick and you got 3 test each one on their
own in the system first. Removing ram won`t make any software changes apart
but could change frequency of the errors generated by faulty memory - why do
you want to remove a stick ?
