Hi

My pc uses an AStock K7S8X motheboard and has a 512mb ram Type PC2700 DDR 333 installed. I puchased a new ram board but i misread the number. Infact I puchased a PC2700U all other details were the same. Question will a PC2700 and a PC2700U work to gether on my machine.

Should do.

Where did you buy the memory stick, what is the make and what size is it?

Hi
I bought the memory stick on e-bay. The make is Elixir 512mb DDR-333Mhz CL2.5 PC2700U. I put it in my PC along with my ram and I got the blue screen . I then removed my Ram and I still get a blue screen. Then removed the PC2700U and replaced my ram and now it's working again. Is the new one crap or they don't work together

Thanks for your reply

I must say it looks as though you may have a faulty stick of RAM :(

I also must confess I don't know what significance the 'U' suffix has.

A Google search revealed nothing for me.

Anybody else here know what the 'U' means?

Not quite sure but I think its the grading, IE A grade = B grade Etc:

Hi
Thanks for the effort, actually I also searched the net and the "U" means unbuffered what ever that means. The person also implid that they should work together.
Anyway as I tested it on it's own and it did not work I will return it as faulty.

Ah, 'unbuffered' of course.... doh! I should have thought of that.

And yes, it should have made no difference to it working with your current memory, good luck with the refund/replacement.
