some of my photoshop filters won't work - not enough RAM.

How can I find out what is eating up the 256 RAM and stop it.

thanx

256MB of RAM is barely enough for Windows XP without Photoshop. If you're
using Photoshop, you'll need a lot more than that. 1GB would be a good
starting point.

Photoshop needs more than 256mb to work. It told you that.

As others have said you need more RAM memory?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task
Manager and click the Performance Tab. What is the Total,
the Commit Charge and the Peak?

You may check on pagefile (virtual memory) usage with
Page File Monitor for XP:
http://www.dougknox.com/

Make sure you study the readme.txt file carefully to ensure
you get the utility to work as it should.

Hope this helps.

256mb was a decent amount for Windows ME or Win 2000 at a push.. but for XP
running Photoshop?.. you are lucky that any Photoshop filters work.. go get
some more memory.. 1.5gb is good for what you are doing..
