Ram installation problems

My computer is 4 years old, it is an has an Intel Celeron processor, 532 MHz and 64MB of RAM. I upgraded to WinXP last year and I have just bought a AZEN RAM 128MB PC133 to install. My computer never came with instructions, so i followed the ones with the RAM. My computer will not boot up if i replace the 64MB Ram with the 128MB. I also had them both in at the same time and I got a message that I was missing a driver and that i could install it but it wouldn't let me. Could some one please help me.

What does your owner's manual say about your system?

First, you need to determine who made your motherboard. If they are still
around and you don't have a manual then, maybe, you can download a copy from
their web site.

The type of DIMMs you should use to upgrade your RAM will be in the manual.

The Belarc Advisor, www.belarc.com , will tell you about your system.

www.crucial.com can run an online test of your memory.

Speed should not be an issue because PC133 should run at a slower clock
rate. Actually it most likely has pc66 memory in it because I think the
Celeron stayed at 66mhz up until it approached 800 mhz and above and then
went to 100mhz.

I have a Celeron 366, running win xp pro with PC133 for a total of 512 megs
and a 40 gig hard drive no problem and this is an old E-machine (choke) from
12/97. You are probably using bunk ram go buy Viking or crucial PC133 and
make sure you get those turkeys in the slot right. Oh and usually it can
make a difference the bigger stick of ram should go in dimm slot 1, look at
the mother board real carefully it should be labeled. Mac

If you can identify the PC or mainboard, see what Crucial (www.crucial.com)
recommends.

It could be that you're trying to use high-density memory in a system that
doesn't support it.

Good luck.

Greetings --

It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module(s) be fully
compatible with both the motherboard and/or any other RAM module(s)
already in the system. Additionally, there are sometimes jumper
switches on older motherboards that need to be reset for new RAM
configurations. Consult your motherboard's manual or the
manufacturer's web site for specific instructions and compatibility
requirements.
