RAM, Fan or WindowsXP?

Hi, without changin anything in my computer, with age my computer developed
the following:
1. CPU usage started to get to maximum much quicker for the same programs.
2. FAN (the biggest problem) started working to the maximum (the loudest),
so loud I cannot hear audio.
3. Running 2 programs almost impossible: results in Fan going out of control
and CPU usage.
4. When Fan goes into max, Graphics start to freeze out.
Anyone know what the problem is? Virus on my XP?

Following on from what Cari has said.

Dust in casing?

This freeware programme is interesting:

Look under Computer, Sensor.

I do not know what temperatures you should expect but for my system
there currently are:

Motherboard 30 C
CPU 52 C
Aux 23C
Drive 39 C

It also gives the rotational speed of two installed fans.

Hope this helps.

Blow out the dust in the CPU heatsink.

A noisy fan is one which does not cool well. Consequently, the motherboard
gets hot enough to cause the other problems.
Replace the fan before the whole thing melts down.

I had a similar problem in the past, it may not be the same but I took the
case off the computer and noticed that the vents around the fan were very
clogged with dust. I cleaned all the dust out and it made a big improvement.

Another thought, is your PC in an enclosed desk or is there enough room
around the exterior for proper venting?
