I am looking for a definitive answer. Does XP professional support RAID.
I'm looking at a new Dell computer. Indication is that Raid is supported.
I need to have disk mirroring in place for redundacy. I suspect that Dell
is providing this through a hardware solution. The only note I can find on
MS knowledge base says that Raid is not supported on XP pro and that a
hardware solution is required. However that KB is quite old.

Raid is not a function of XP Pro it's self. Raid mirroring
is done at the BIOS level. It will be built into the
Mother Board or into a seperate card. It works reasonably
well with XP if you turn off the automatic re-build on
your raid software. Otherwise it will spend all it's time
re-building it's self everytime there is a system error.
