Hi
i am installing a RAID level 0 on my athlon xp 1.53 ghz
windows xp machine. Does anyone know if this would be a
better idea (for performance) than upgrading my 256MB of
RAM? If i have the first drive, how much will the
additional 40 gig drive and RAID card cost? If anyone is
running a RAID level 0 pc, i would appreciate feedback to
see if it makes any performance differance.

please email me at (e-mail address removed)

thanx

Yes, RAID 0 will make a performance difference. However, adding a PCI RAID
card to a 32-bit PCI bus may not make as much difference as you would like,
since the bandwidth is 133 MBps on the bus.

What apps are you running, and how large are your data files? It is VERY
likely that a RAM increase will significantly reduce swapping to the
pagefile and give you noticeable performance gains.

Check newegg.com for prices on hardware, and crucial.com for RAM.
