Raid compatability - IDE

Hi,

This is my first post, I hope it in the right place!

I'm new to PC modding, except for adding memory or a New graphics card.

I want to speed up my current PC as I play BF2 Online & I am almost the
last one to get in.

My Current setup is
Medion P4 2.6
1GB Pc2700 333mhz
160GB Samsung ATA
ATI X800 Pro

What would be the best way speeding up the data access

I did buy a Maxtor Diamondmax 10 300gb 16mb cache with an idea run the
game from here, but talking to a couple of guys has told me that this
wont do a lot to speed things up & I need to think about a raid setup.

I have two IDE channels, currently IDE 0 has the Samung as master & a
DVD-Rom as slave
the other IDE channel has a DVD-RW

what do I need in place to go ahead with a raid setup

any suggestions welcome

Medion P4 2.6 <--- Old hat by todays standards, but should be fine.
Consider overclocking.
1GB Pc2700 333mhz <--- 400Mhz memory would help a bit. More memory would
help a bit too.
160GB Samsung ATA <--- Defrag often. With multiple drives, keep the swap
partition and the "busy" drive seperate.
ATI X800 Pro<--- Not really sure where this stands in relation to
performance. Should be OK though.

What else is running on your PC? How many icons down by your clock?

You want a faster machine?
- Remove any stuff that you don't need running in the background.
- Consider overclocking. A 2.6Ghz Northwood can do 3.1Ghz without breaking
a sweat.
- I wouldn't replace the memory you have, but faster (400Mhz at least)
could help
- Get the latest video card, that's a reasonable price ($200ish)
