RAID 0+1 ERROR on Abit NV7133R

C

Charles Montgomery

When I select the partition to install to, that is the
only partition, which is a raid 0+1 4 disk array set up on
the highpoint controller, during Windows setup, Windows
says down at the bottom "Updating disk 0 on array 0 on
channel 0 [MBR]" for a long time, and then returns an
error that "an error occurred while Setup was updating
partition information on: 117000mbdisk on etc.. Setup
cannot continue." This error does not occur with 2 disk
raid 1 or raid 0 partitions, only 4 disk raid 0+1, or 4
disk raid 0 arrays. What is the issue? How do I get this
installed, I really need Raid 0+1.
Thanks Everyone!
Charles

Requests for personal emails will be ignored since they undermine the whole
ethos of *public* newsgroups, especially those set up specifically to allow
fellow users to collaborate and provide assistance for the benefit of all.

That said... your problem may lie with the Highpoint driver that is included
in XP. According to the Abit website, you may or may not have checked there
already, there is an issue with this driver which can cause problems and
they suggest using version 2.0.1019 if those (unspecified) problems occur.
Check your current version in one of the 'safe' installs you mentioned.

There's a link at the bottom of the page which gives full instructions for
the installation.

If that doesn't help it may be time to upgrade your mainboard. Your current
one has been discontinued by Abit which does leave you with a problem.
Unfortunately, since Abit have discontinued the product they are no longer
continuing to update the system BIOS and that means that you are probably
unable to use the newer version of the Highpoint controller BIOS as well.

Maybe your new career as an XP 'trouble-shooter' (yes I read your other
post)
may provide you with enough cash to buy that new mainboard.... and then
again it might not.... ;o)

The only other suggestion is to contact Abit. They may have another idea.

I'll put the bill in the post shall I? ;o)

Hope some of that helps
Pete
