Radio Buttons Stay Greyed Out

I keep coming up with peculiar things. I am using two radio buttons in an
Option Group and they work perfectly. However, despite this, they remain
greyed out the entire time and never change their appearance. Both buttons
have the same greyed out image in the centre and neither change to black, or
disappear, when clicked. But, as I said, they work perfectly. I even
tried changing them for check boxes but the same thing happened, the check
boxes simply had a greyed out square in the centre, but again worked
perfectly. Any suggestions please?

Should have mentioned I am using Access 2002.

I have managed to make them show up now but I cannot get over the problem
that I have to click one of the buttons (either will do) before either will
register. After that initial click the greyed outness (?) goes and the
buttons operate normally. Any suggestions please.
